PLDT offers “Libreng Tawag” on Valentine’s Day
MANILA, Philippines, February 12, 2007 – The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. will be offering free long distance calls on Valentine’s Day at the Baywalk area on Roxas Boulevard to support the National Telecommunications Commission’s “Libreng Tawag” project.
PLDT will provide four telephone lines in a booth to be located at the New Rajah Sulayman Park on Roxas Boulevard, Manila City, from 8 am to 7 pm on February 14.
Because PLDT is expecting a lot of people to avail of the free national and international long distance call service, calls will be limited to three minutes per caller only.
PLDT President and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno said PLDT is heeding the call of public service for this special day.
“Valentine’s Day has always registered the most number of calls and the biggest volumes of call traffic, even surpassing Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Through this project initiated by the NTC, we hope to benefit the public, especially OFWs and their relatives,” said Nazareno.
He added that PLDT has always provided free long distance calls to the public during special occasions as well as natural disasters to help Filipinos get in touch with their relatives and loved ones.
Being at the forefront of the telecommunications industry and being a leader in innovation, PLDT will also showcase some of its latest products and services that will help Filipinos take advantage of telecommunications technology.
Nazareno said there are many other products and services that cater to the various communications needs of Filipinos. These include Pwede! Card, Budget Card and DSL.
“On Valentine’s Day, we want the public to know that communicating with their loved ones can be done in many different ways. You can call, you can text, you can email, or you can use the Internet to chat and even do video calls,” said Nazareno.
