Stolen PLDT cable knocks out 2000 phones in Quezon City 

       
February 23, 2006 - Thieves sawed off a PLDT underground telephone cable in Quezon City recently causing a major cable trouble that knocked out around 2000 telephones.

These telephones - which numbers start with 921, 922, 924, 925, 926, 927, 928, 929, 982, 990, 259, 425 and 426 - are located at Dona Sotera Subd., Eroprostina Subd., Dominique V & VI Subd., Don Jose, Dona Pilar Subd., Joroma Place Bldg., Robinson Supermarket, Cherry Foodarama, a portion of Tandang Sora, Congressional and Mindanao Avenues, Mercury St. , Venus St., Apollo St., Rosal St., Earth St., Jupiter St., Saturn St., Neptune St., William St., Cornus St., Polaris St., Circle C, Troy  and Ramos compounds.

PLDT said its underground telephone cable located under the Pasong Tamo 2 Bridge along Visayas Avenue was sawed off by thieves who ran away with 12 feet of cable early morning of February 22.

"However, we have to replace the whole length of underground cable spanning 310 meters to restore service," a  PLDT official said.

PLDT repair crews are now working round the clock to replace the stolen cable and restore service on or before Monday, February 27.
